Lado ABC was founded in Warsaw, somewhere around 2004, from one simple reason. Back then everybody was afraid to publish so called, independent music. Today it's even worse, although it might be better, cause we don't need to force us anymore. As musicians, we always tried to keep everything we do top notch. Which means, that during those first years of activity, good music and nice covers were the most important things for us. Somehow that was enough.

 

 

 

Lado means "side" in Portuguese, ABC are the first three letters of the alphabet, and LADO ABC are three different things at once.

First and foremost, we are a group of musicians from various musical traditions who have been working together for over 15 years. We collectively run a label that has published over 90 albums featuring a variety of music that defies genres and conventions. Together and individually, we have been awarded some of Poland's most prestigious cultural honors, some of them repeatedly.

Secondly, Lado is a cultural association devoted to running cultural sites and organizing concerts, workshops and festivals. We act on our own and in collaboration with other cultural institutions, sometimes with the financial support of the city of Warsaw.

Last but not least, we are a community of close friends and professional acquaintances spanning generations. What we care about most is the joy of making music and working together. The quality of the music and the energy of the live shows are merely consequences.
